De Plane De Plane

Don't take photos on de plane, at least that's what the airlines prefer.  An interesting article from the New York Times thanks to my Professional Women Photographer amiga Maddi Ring.  But of course this article makes Skippy (my evil twin) want to start a campaign where every time a flight takes off, when the flight attendants are buckled up in their seats, everyone in the plane should take out their cell phone and take at least 6 photos.  What do you think?

If you live in the area, mark your calendars for June 14th and come on down to StoneCrop Gallery, located on Shore Road just south of Ogunquit and Perkins Cove and North of the Yorks.  Not only will you see my work, but the work of other talented photographers in their now annual "Show and Tell" Cell phone show.  I'll  post what got juried into the show after the reception for you folks that aren't in the area.

Is it Real Or

is it Memorex?  I'm probably spelling it incorrectly, but if you're my age you probably know I'm talking about an ad that was about taped versus live music.  In our digital age with photoshop masters and mistresses galore, we can pose the same question about photography.  My specialty is making digital alchemy where combining images to create new meaning is my artistic focus.  But I also shoot for editorial (or commercial) purposes as well as head-shots and portraits.   With actor head-shots one must not gussy them up too much as the casting directors want to see the same person as they see in the photograph, not someone 10 years older whose photo has been "improved".

In social media sometimes we're fooled by photos.  But now there is a service that can detect if a photo has been doctored.  Click HERE to read about it in the New York Times Lens Blog.  Many thanks to Maddi Ring of the Professional Womens Photographers for passing
